Google Pixel Wi-Fi connection dropping

Are there any issues with the Hub 3.0 connecting with the new Google Pixel phone on Android 7.1?

I keep having to turn the Wi-Fi off and on again on the phone when trying to download apps, etc. It tells me an app will take 20+ minutes to download, which shouldn't really be the case for a 100Mb connection.

Thanks

Re: Google Pixel Wi-Fi connection dropping

Hi robah,

Thanks for posting and a warm welcome to the community.

Sorry to read that you are having issues with the wireless connection on your Google Pixel phone.

Do you only notice this issue on this one device?

Does the device connected to the 2.4 Ghz or the 5 Ghz network?

Have you tried to change the wireless channel to see if that will help?

Let us know how you get on

Sam

Re: Google Pixel Wi-Fi connection dropping

Hi,

I have had the same problem with bad internet speeds on applications such as Facebook and Instagram (loading videos very slowly) as well on Google Play Store. I haven't had the same problem with BT and other providers or even some different hubs but the Hub 3.0 seems to be always cause problems with my Google Pixel on Android 7.1. All other devices are fine and I've tried portforwarding with static IPs but it still stays slow.

Thanks.

Re: Google Pixel Wi-Fi connection dropping

Think I've figured my issue out turns out if both 2.4 and 5ghz are running it messes up the pixel phone connection but when 5ghz is disabled it runs a treat hope that helps

Re: Google Pixel Wi-Fi connection dropping

That's worked a treat!

I wish I searched for this before I ate into my 20gb 4g data allowance ><

Re: Google Pixel Wi-Fi connection dropping

I'm having the same issue, been driving me crazy.

Any chance of a comment from Virgin about it before I go and buy a new router? Already factory reset my Pixel, wish I'd spotted this thread before doing that!

Re: Google Pixel Wi-Fi connection dropping

I got it working in the end after finally getting through to the customer services line.

They switched on the 2G and 5G signals and then it worked OK. Still have the odd issue with connections to my Sonos, but unsure if that is the Wi-Fi or the app/system.

Re: Google Pixel Wi-Fi connection dropping

Disable 5Ghz, fixed the video buffering issue on my wife's phone.
