Extending wi-fi

I have just built a 'summerhouse' in the garden. It's only 20 feet from the house and maybe 40 feet from my router and I hoped I would pick up my wi-fi. However, unfortunately not. Is there a way to extend internet capability to reach outside the house?

Appreciate any help with this

Re: Extending wi-fi

Hello brianc63,

Thanks for posting, welcome to the forum!

Sorry to hear that your wireless network isn't reaching your new summer house, there will be ways around this.

You could try a wireless range extender, you will plug this into a socket as close as possible to your summer house, it needs to be on the same electric circuit as your Hub. We have more info about extending your network on our website. Apart from wireless extenders, you'd be looking at a very long Ethernet cable to run from your house to your summer house.

I hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Take care.

Re: Extending wi-fi

I assume your summerhouse has no power and you have no interest in running cables from house to summerhouse.

In that case buy a pair of powerline adapters and a cheap wireless router. Place the router by a window as close to the summerhouse as you can.

Google for instructions on how to set this up.
