Do I have to install my Hub 3

I have a Virgin Media modem, had it since we first got broadband. We received a letter saying our service will end if we did not upgrade to a HUB 3. I recently purchased a fairly good modem, suitable for my needs. All my devices are connected and I get good control and security, Now I have this HUB 3 and my question is Do I REALLY need to install this new modem/router? What difference will it actually make? Can I just leave it in its box.

I have an Ambit Modem and a TP-link router with a network drive connected?
"If it's not broke why fix it"
Any ideas would be good.

Re: Do I have to install my Hub 3

Yes, you need to use it. Your current Ambit modem doesn't support DOCSIS 3 and will cease to work in the near future when Virgin move to DOCSIS 3 only.

You can however continue to use your own TP Link router. Just put the Hub 3 in Modem Mode and it will work like your current modem.

Re: Do I have to install my Hub 3

Hello Nobaconroll,

Thanks for joining the community, great to have you here Smiley Very Happy

I just wanted to pop by and see how you're finding your Hub? I can see you've activated it so I wondered how you're finding it?

Is there anything else I can help with?

Catch you soon,

Take care.
