Daily disconnections (and unable to browse to router)

Almost everyday my connection freezes.  I remain connected to the wireless network, but as well as not being able to connect to the internet I cannot even browse locally to the router (192.168.0.1).  A restart temporarily gets things working again, but inevitably it will freeze again.

I'd love to get this working without having to resort to buying and installing my own wireless router, when this should work ok.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Daily disconnections (and unable to browse to router)

Hello Smikkers,

Welcome to the forum!

It's great to have new members Smiley Very Happy

I do apologies for the wireless connection problems you're experiencing. I've checked your connection and nothing obvious is standing out as a concern right now.

Do you have any issues with your hard-wired connection? Have you tried to change your operating wireless channel yet? If not, take a look at our help article - Changing the Virgin Media router's wireless channel / frequency for instructions.

Could you let us know if this helps,

Take care.

Re: Daily disconnections (and unable to browse to router)

Thanks Heather

I rarely use the hard wired connection, but when I have the issue with not being able to browse to the router it's the same on a hard wired connection as it is on wireless.

I have tried changing the wireless channel.  Both using Auto and the cleanest channel I can find (channel 1) using Netstumbler/Inssider.

Any other help or suggestions would be welcome.  Is this something that might be solved by updating, replacing or upgrading the router I have?

Cheers

Stuart

Re: Daily disconnections (and unable to browse to router)

Hi Smikkers,

Thanks for getting in touch to let us know that your issues are the same on a hard wired connection as wireless, I apologise for any inconvenience caused. Heather isn't in at the moment so I've picked this up for you, I hope you don't mind.

I have tried to test your connection from here, however I was unable to locate any of your details via your forum account. I will need some information from you in order to proceed with diagnostics. I will send you a PM (purple envelope at the top) detailing what's required in order to proceed with diagnostics.

Please respond to me there and I'll get this all sorted for you.

Take care,

Thanks,

Adam.

Re: Daily disconnections (and unable to browse to router)

Hi Stuart,

Thanks for responding!

I have managed to run some diagnostics on your connection from here and I can see that there's a number of time outs inside the Hubs logs, these will explain the disconnections you mentioned. I would like to arrange for this to be investigated further by one of our engineers.

I will send you a PM (purple envelope at the top) detailing what's required to proceed with making the booking. Please respond to me there and I'll get this all sorted for you.

Take care,

Thanks,

Adam.
