Are you trying to connect by direct Ethernet cable or wifi?
Which Virgin Media hub? If Hub 3.0, it may be worth separating the two wifi bands to control which band the Sky Q is attempting to connect to.
Have you reviewed the Sky help pages as this is a Sky issue?
I've not upgraded to Sky Q yet, but there is no reason why it wouldn't work - but from reading the Sky forums some installers are not as competent than others.
