Having just spent the last two hours comparing Cat 5, 6, 6a and 7 ethernet cables I've surmised that Virgin's speed doesn't necessitate Cat 7 (but any reason why not to future proof as this cabling will go underthe floorboards)?
I am then faced with the choice of what kind of shielding and this does my head in. Somewhere I have read that U/UTP is fine, but if I am running the cable past a microwave, sonos sound system, NAS drive and various other bits and bobs is there an advantage to shielding?
My options go from CAT 7 PIMF, CAT 6a F/FTP, 6a S/FTP? Any advice on 6a vs 7 and PIMF vs U of F or S?
