Broadband down AGAIN

Ever since upgrading to 100mb broadband the speeds we get are slower than when we were on 50mb and the wireless drops out at least every 10 minutes. When we upgraded I asked about updated hardware (wireless hub) and was told there was none. I found out this was a lie as my in-laws have a updated wireless hub. When I called to complain I was lied to again and told we had the most up to date hardware.
We have since had an engineer out (before Christmas) , although if anything the speeds and reliability has got worse.
I fully expect to be fobbed off again with some excuse which is a shame as VM broadband used to be the best. Family and friends have bt which seems much more reliable.
Please can someone sort this out as at the moment its rubbish
