Re: BQM graphs showing an increase in latency

I tend to get a lot of yellow spikes when using things like my voice regognition devices such as Alexa or when I am doing pings or speedchecks. your actual broadband connection looks very congested. I think we all need to remember though different areas where originally made up of different companies such as ntl and telewest all more than likely have different networks, cables etc. As far as I am aware they are working on everyone being move on to the same standard though, so probably explains the different types of line, some noiser than others.

You have the wretched SH1 and it's beginning to display one of its worst behaviours - the minimum latency ramp.  If you search the Community on the term RAMPING, you'll find a mega-thread where this is fully analysed.  It is mitigated by rebooting the wretched thing daily - but it is a rotten device except in modem mode.  You should get that replaced by VM.

As to the flashing green light, that means the modem is resetting.  If you could post the upstream and downstream power levels we can see if there is anything obvious that could be causing this.

Good morning, Sephiroth... Many thanks for your helpful explanation!  As of 10.00 am today.

I have this really old one-liner network log posted at the bottom... and don't know why it's showing or what it means.

Unfortunately I need the router use for husband's laptop, android phones of kids who call in, my kindle plus printer/scanner all on wireless.

Only my main PC, which I use for graphics and modelling is wired into the router.

Re: BQM graphs showing an increase in latency

From the looks of the issue around 6pm ( http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Speed/Outages-issues-from-around-6pm-today/td-p/3367708 ) and the increase in latency in all of the live graphs in this thread in the last half hour or so, I think the problem is back again...
