My mom (who lives in America) is visiting my grandmother in England. My grandmother does not have a computer or internet access in her home. I am trying to find out about getting a device (tablet or iPad) and a wireless plan for my mom. Roaming charges for her international plan are too expensive. She only needs internet access for searching for things on the web. I am also in America trying to help since she can't search right now. Any helpful advice?
Re: American needs help getting wireless in England
It's very easy to pick up a data SIM in the UK. Another way is to buy the iPad in the US, both of mine were bought there, and you can activate the supplied Apple SIM in the UK. The term 'wireless' in the UK normally refers to WiFi, we usually call wireless mobile phone/data. Also depend where you are in the UK, there are lots of free WiFi hotspots. Especially if she likes Starbucks!
