wifi charges

Hello, I previously ( 2 years ago) had a blackberry on contract with virgin and was informed that if i turned on and used wifi ( using my home broadband wifi), that i was charged 30p per day for going on th internet this way.

I now have a samsung galaxy ace, and find that the mobile signal in my home is not very strong. So what i want to know is, if I use my home braodband via wifi on the phone, is this going to cost me the 30p daily rate? If so, is virgin the only company that does this, because friends of mine don't seem to have similar issues and use the wifi on their phones all the time.

Re: wifi charges

There is no charge for using WIFI as you are connecting to the internet via your home or other network and not using the phone data network.

Re: wifi charges

Hi ewesie,

You will only be charged for using the internet if you either don't have a mobile web plan with us, or there is an intermittent issue where the wifi drops out and then starts to use your mobile web.

You can turn off the mobile web in your settings > wireless and networks > mobile networks and switch packet data off to avoid this from happening.

Many thanks.
