getting an iphone 3gs on virgin mobile

hi guys, just a bit of advice really, i am currently on a pay monthly deal and have around 11 months left on my contract.

I have the htc desire and wanted to get either an iphone 3gs or an iphone , i know virgin mobile do not do any of these phones at present, if i was to buy either of these phones from ebay and the phone was unlocked if i was to put my virgin mobile pay monthly sim into it would this work or would it not??

stick with you HTC mate maybe get a HD version will better then a iphone

If you search the Forum there are many threads relating to iPhones so it goes without saying that yes you can use a Virgin SIM in an unlocked iPhone.

thanks again for your help, but i think what i am unsure of is if i plug my registered sim card from my htc desire into an iphone it will just work, their is nothing else that i need to do???

There's nothing you need to do, I use a 3GS iPhone with my Virgin SIM.  You will need to watch out as the iPhone uses up a lot of cellular data even when you're not accessing the web so be aware of that, and switch off that functionality if you're using Wi-fi at home/work.

well i have a data limit of 1.5gb per month so should be ok that shouldn't it? i also use my wifi when i get in from work

In that case you will be fine, I have that too but keep it switched off and only turn it on when I need to access the web when I'm out and about.  I can't access it currently, but that's another story.

Another thing I've had problems with is MMS, I've had intermittent access and as I can't get to the APN settings on my iPhone I can't do anything about it but it's no great loss to me so I haven't investigated further.

All that aside, get your iPhone put your VM SIM in and away you go.

Virgin only offers 1gb a month on contracts, sim only and payg
