I had my sim cut down because virgin was,as usual, behind other net works and didn't use micro sims, I have changed my phone and require a normal size sim but have just been told not only will it cost me a fiver but it will take between 3 and 5 days to arrive and my present sim, and all it's contents, will be cut off straight away so while I'm waiting for these jokers to sort it out I will have no sim

They can not have 2 sims active on the same phone number at the same time

so when your new sim is programmed the old one dies

You had the chance to save your contacts so I agree it is a bit funny

Also bs1, if you had done a little research into cutting your SIM down you would have found that you can buy a very small bit of plastic that usually comes with SIM cutting tools which converts your newly cut Micro SIM up to a normal sized SIM.

So technically Virgin aren't the jokers here. You are for not fully investigating micro SIM cutting.

Of course Virgin will not provide you with a free new SIM as i'd imagine the phone call between you both would have been:

bs1: Hi I need a new normal sized SIM

Virgin: What seems to be the problem with your current one?

bs1: Yeah I cut my SIM down to fit in a phone (probs the iPhone) in order to still use your network. Now I'm going back to a normal phone and need a normal sized SIM card.

Virgin: Sure, it'll cost you £5 for a replacement SIM & will take 3-5 days to arrive.

bs1: WHAT!!?? its going to cost me £5 and take 3-5 days?

Virgin: Well yes, you totally mutilated your old SIM on your own accord, why on earth would we send you out a free replacement one? Oh and regarding the 3-5 day time scale, thats the average 3 minimum it takes to arrive and 5 days max. Assuming Royal Mail don't mess up. It's not like we can magically beam you the SIM card to your house. Unfortunately we're not Harry Potter, we can't just say 'SIMAPPARATEIOUS" and all of a sudden with a pop it disapparate's from our warehouse & appears in your home.

Virgin: oh yeah and in order to replace your SIM we need to cut your current SIM off. Ya know, because there can't be 2 SIM cards with the same number.

For one Virgin Mobile do not supply the iPhone so the is no reason to supply a micro sim, you dod not do to badly out of this issue so the is no need to act childishly and call people fools especially someone who does this for a living and will know about this subject than you do.
