Virgin wallpaper and browser icon

Hi,

I recently received a new blackberry 9300 from virgin to replace my previous phone which was a blackberry 8520.

On my previous phone it was shipped with the virgin media logo as the wallpaper and the browser icon was a virgin media logo but both are not available on the 9300 and when I click on the browser I have set virgin today as my homescreen but when I click on the your account icon it comes up with error and says I need to use the virgin media browser which I cant seem to find.

Is it possible to download these anywhere?

Many Thanks

Re: Virgin wallpaper and browser icon

Hi I have checked my account and am being charged for Internet usage even though I get unlimited email and Internet usage.

I am a little confused about this as my balance shows I have nearly a whole gb left well within my fair usage policy.

Going back to my previous post I wonder whether I am doing something wrong as I am using the browser icon on my blackberry but it does not say its a virgin media browser.

I have spoken to customer services and they say they can not do anything until they get the bill for my account through.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Re: Virgin wallpaper and browser icon

Hi- i have exactly the same problem, only i have been using the blackberry browser and have been charged £37 for internet usage, even though I have a1GB package. Support told me not to use youtube and that the phone should know intuitively whether to use virgin wap or blackberry. I got a refund of the £37, but the support answer doesnt really help. Why shouldnt I be able to use youtube from the 1GB allowance. Like you, I no longer have a Virgin WAP icon on the phone for some reason, Blackberry 9300. Can anyone help please?

Re: Virgin wallpaper and browser icon

Just to update on this, I have now downloaded a browser called Opera Mini from the internet, which is using my 1GB allowance nicely, rather than the Blackberry usage. This will prevent any unforeseen costs hopefully.

This issue was not explained at all in the shop when we bought the blackberry. Not good, is it.

Re: Virgin wallpaper and browser icon

The Blackberry phones with V6 software do not for some strange reason include an icon for the Virgin media browser but wbaby has a nice resolution for the problem @)

Re: Virgin wallpaper and browser icon

Hi there,

Thanks for your help, I have downloaded opera mini aswell,Am I correct in thinking I should only use this browser for anything Internet related such as you tube etc instead of any of the shortcuts on the Blackberry menu?

Is it possible to set up the virgin webpage as the homepage and view your account as before?

Everytime I tried it said you need to use the virgin media browser on your blackberry menu which is no more after the blackberry update or is this option no longer available and will you have to login every time on the virgin media webpage to check your balance.

Many Thanks

Re: Virgin wallpaper and browser icon

I think you will still have to log in on the Virgin webpage. Opera is only a solution to internet use being correctly taken from your allowance, rather than being charged as I was for Blackberry usage. For some reason Virgin arent intending to reissue the Virgin WAP logo.

Re: Virgin wallpaper and browser icon

Yes thats correct use the Opera for "normal" web use and the Blackberry portal for BB stuff :smileyhappy:

Re: Virgin wallpaper and browser icon

Hi,

Yes I spoke to technical help this morning as I was still being charged for Internet usage

there was a lot of confusion between speaking to different people on customer services,

one gentleman told me no matter how I get on you tube I will always be charged a fee as you can only browse for free not stream videos no matter how much allowance I have??

They said you should only use the virgin media browser which I told them I don't have and technical help confirmed there is only one browser on the version 6 blackberry software.

The tech guys are looking into the new Blackberry software to see what they can find out and I think for now im going to see if I can revert to the previous version,As you say its a shame the virgin wap logo is not available as it made things a little easier.I have been refunded so happy with the help I received through customer services and technical support and through here of course.

  • On a web page, press the Image of the Menu keykey > Add to Bookmarks.
  • In the Title field, type a name for the bookmark.
  • In the Folder field, click the folder that you want the bookmark to appear in.
  • Click Add
