Re: Samsung Wave S8500 - Bada 1.2 firmware update

Hi Shane,

Being a Samsung wave user also through Virgin I have been reading your posts for a while and hoping there would be some sort of outcome to this.

Guess what yesterday I did the same thing as you and connected my samsung wave through kies and low and behold a new update to fimware S8500 VIRJL1(VIR). Which I did. I was thinking great thanks to you I have Bada 1.2 and then I noticed that it is still Bada 1.0.

I find this absolutely ridiculous that shane is having to do someones job in virgin around firmware updates and actually chase them to find out what is going on and not get paid for it.

I just hope more samsung wave users would post on here and Virgin do something about this as it is now getting beyond a joke.

And we have Bada 2.0 coming in summer time and I dont want to go through this again.

Once again thanks shane.  I hope we have Bada 1.2 soon!!!!!!

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 - Bada 1.2 firmware update

So...as long as it comes to pass...

...some good news!

I've been contacted by the CEO's office.

1.2 update is being tested this week, and, as long as there's no problems, will be released to Samsung the following week.

So, hopefully, a fornight or so and it should be up on the Kies server.

Watch this space!

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 - Bada 1.2 firmware update

Hi Shane,

I feel exactly the same as you about VM. I have been a customer with them for over 5yrs now I believe, but have never had one of their phones, I was always SIM only. In September I took the plunge and changed my contract to have one of their phones on a different contract, obviously, a Samsung Wave. 6 months on, I am on my 7th handset ,due to a variety of issues, and on all of them I STILL CAN'T DO ANY UPGRADES!!!!! I have asked for help from Virgin, they refer me to Samsung. I ask Samsung for advice, they say it's the hand set, and to make things worse, evertime I have contacted VM, the customer service is SHOCKING!!!! And also an issue that started with my contract in November still hasn't been resolved until hopefully this week when I finally spoke to a lady who actually listened to my issue and didn't just read from a script. This lady was called Maria who could see within 5 minutes what was wrong.

How could a company so big be so **bleep**. All the big companys like BT have finally realised that the customer pays their wages and keeps them afloat. WHY CAN'T VIRGIN????

Keep up the good work abd good luck with the 2.0 upgrade

Sorry to hear about your problems.

Unfortunately, as you probably know - the Wave disappeared off Virgin's map very quickly - and indeed is no longer manufactured by Samsung.

One of the reasons for this is that, very much like Microsoft did with the original X-Box - Samsung piled an awlfull lot into the Wave - and sold it at a ridiculously low price (considering the specs) in order to kick start their O/S - no "Wave" model after the original has a SuperAmoled screen for example.

Virgin, on the other hand - seem to have problems coping with the models they still sell - let alone the ones they don't.

If you're still having problems with your handset try mysamsungwave.com - we're reasonably equipped with people who know their way around the phone.

Oh, and I'll be contacting Virgin this week to find out about the progress of the 1.2 update - no doubt this will all be repeated when Bada 2.0 arrives :smileyhappy:

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 - Bada 1.2 firmware update

Coming to almost a month on the original email communication and almost 2 weeks on the last communication. Looks like Virgin just dont really care about Bada and keep fobbing us off.

Any news on this? Or we giving up?
