Samsung Galaxy Ace - email problems...

Okay, I give up!

Trying to set up a blueyonder.co.uk pop3 email account using 'recent' mode on a Samsung Galaxy Ace.  I've spent a good 5 hours on it and still no chuffin' joy!

Has anyone successfully configured this device to use 'recent' mode with a pop3 account and if so, I would be eternally grateful for the correct settings (BTW, I've tried just about all the generic settings so specific instructions for the Galaxy Ace would be appreciated before my head explodes)!

TIA,

AndyM

Re: Samsung Galaxy Ace - email problems...

Compliments of slated :smileyhappy:

sending:

smtp.virginmedia.com

SSL ON

port 465

smtp server authentication ON (use full email address and password, do NOT use secure password authentication)

receiving:

choose between POP3 or IMAP

POP3:

pop3.virginmedia.com

SSL ON

port 995

use full email address and password, do NOT use secure password authentication

if you use POP3 on your mobile, and also use another POP3 client (eg Outlook on your PC) to read the same account, then prefix the POP3 logon username in all clients with recent: [ eg recent:myself@ntworld.com ]

IMAP:

imap.virginmedia.com

SSL ON

port 993

use full email address and password, do NOT use secure password authentication

Sorry mate.  No good, but thanks.  Just tried those settings. Adding 'recent' to the username results in the same thing whether using blueyonder.co.uk or virginmedia.com settings -  'Username or password incorrect'.  Remove recent and it checks and finds the server settings as it you would expect.  Emails will download and then mysteriously vanish!
