Re: New Galaxy S II but unable to make calls

Just an update.

I called Virgin Mobile twice today. The first time, I was told that my sim was faulty and I could either get a replacement sent out or go to a Virgin Shop and get a replacement sim and my cost would be refunded?? Asked for a replacement sim.

For my second call, after reading on this thread about the possibility of transfering the contract onto a PAYG sim, I was told there is a fault with a whole batch of numbers. I was told that all I could do was wait until the 'technical people' sorted it out. I asked a few times about getting the contract transferred but was basically ignored.

As someone who is new to Virgin Mobile, to get a phone that I can't even use is disappointing to say the least. Contemplating the 14 day return policy at the moment.

Is it possible to get my contract transferred to a PAYG sim. I have one laying around (unused).

Re: New Galaxy S II but unable to make calls

got an update this morning from VM that they have now ported the contract to my old PAYG sim so that is possible, did take a while to get through to the department that could sort this out for me but they were very helpful in the end - just annoying that you have to jump through hoops to get put through to someone in the uk who can fix your problem.

also the guy I spoke to who sorted it said they had to send new sims to other customers with this problem so dont let them keep fobbing you off saying that engineers are looking into it, you might need a new sim to be sent out

Re: New Galaxy S II but unable to make calls

I did end up getting my contract transferred to a PAYG sim and once you know the department to get through to, it is pretty quick. Rather than Customer Services, you need to get to Upgrades.

No idea why this is but when I got through to them, my phone was up and running in 5 minutes (although I needed to have a PAYG ready).

I put the direct phone number for this department on another post. It is an 0800 number so shouldn't cost anything from a landline.

I have seen the recent post by Sallie and it seems to say that if you have a new contract sim, you have to wait. Sorry Sallie but I didn't and got sorted.
