Samsung have officially confirmed the ICS update for the Galaxy S2 will be available on 10 March 2012 - see here: http://www.samsung.com/ph/support/newsalert/suppor
Available via KIES or FOTA
However, not sure if we as Virgin customers can use this upgrade - notes for the release state
"Customized firmware If unofficial or customized firmware is installed in the mobile, unexpected problem can happen during upgrading"
Can we use it or do we have to await an official Virgin upgrade to ICS??
Any thoughts folks??

Fantastic news. As trickiejohn says it takes the networks some time to get their tweaks in. I've got to wait on Three. ![]()

It also depends on what firmware version you are currently running. You may be lucky and have a generic European firmware rather than a Virgin branded one. If so, you should get the update as soon as it's released by Samsung for the European region, and not have to wait for Virgin approval.
To find what your current firmware version is, type *#1234# into the phones dialler. You will be presented with Phone, CSC and PDA. The code proceeding "Phone" denotes the actual firmware your on which in turn tells you if it's an unlocked and unbranded firmware or not by checking the code against the list of firmwares on the Sammobile web site.

Thanks Ray - very handy. Cheers ![]()
I have this: PDA: I9100XWKF3, PHONE: I9100XXKE7, CSC: I9100XEUKD1 which doesn't appear to match exactly any of those listed?
Oh, and unfortunately Samsung are now saying they jumped the gun a bit & it won't be 10 March:

Looking at your CSC code the XEU bit means it will take any SIM ergo it's unbranded. So as soon as ICS is released by Samsung in the UK you should get it straight away. Even better, Virgin have nothing to do with the firmware so you won't need to wait for them to approve it.
All the best.

@ Lesthehammer
A little bit of further digging tells me that your firmware is an official Samsung generic UK firmware.

If you have an unbranded phone and you really really want ICS/TW then here it is XDA I9100 ICS.
As always with flashing android the risks are all yours. Since this is leaked there may be bugs/FC's and you will be factory resetting your phone. It may be better to wait the few days for an offical release.
