Hi,
I was kind of hoping a Virgin employee could give us some kind of "rough" estimated date to be expecting this update? I wouldn't mind knowing what the testing procedure is and why it takes so long either. I've noticed on other threads that Virgin very rarely release thier own firmware for other phone models so why should we all be waiting around and expecting this one? If Virgin aren't testing/releasing one, could they at the very least advise us what to do in terms of where and how to download ICS from? After all, Android users all across the world have been eagerly awaiting this update for nearly a year.
Thanks ![]()

Virgin test and release all updates made available for the handsets they sell (as long as they pass testing). However for the SGS II, it is possible the firmware for it is unbranded - so it's a possibility that the firmware will be made available tomorrow.
I'm sure if that isn't the case, and the release date will be later on, then Virgin will advise the date as soon as they can.

That's probably because there has been no official word from Samsung - who after all are the ones that releasing it

I thought Samsung made an official statement release last week regarding the UK? I believe O2 and T-Mobile have at least kept thier customers informed of what is going on with ICS even if it is going to be branded by them. Even if Virgin customers Galaxy S2's aren't actually branded, some sort of official word from you guys would be appreciated by the customers waiting I'm sure. Whether the firmware was coming via you guys or instead pointing us in the right direction on where to get it.
As I think I've said before this isn't a small little piece of firmware. If it's big enough to get on BBC news then I think that says it all. People have been waiting for this for a long time as it's going to change the actual feel and interactivity of the phone. We're not asking for blood just news or helpful information.

The official Samsung announcement turned out to be wrong and was deleted. I appreciate it must be exciting to be able to get ICS but patience is a virtue. Think of the hapless original Galaxy S owners who were told that no ICS will be made available for their handsets. All they'll be getting is a Value Pack.
All the best.
Ray.

Hi Ray,
No disrespect but were the S users promised ICS then had it taken back? Otherwise I've got no sympathy for them if that wasn't the case sorry as I didn't buy an S I bought an S2. In terms of "patience" I think we've all waited long enough don't you? And the longer people are made to wait for something that is hyped and hyped, usually end up being dissapointed with it finally arrives. We're not asking for the world on a plate just some sort of official news or information as to what's going on with it mate.
Cheers.

Until Samsung officially release the UK firmware for the unbranded/stock handset there isn't much Virgin can do

So , virgin basically sell samsung phones in abundance , but no one at virgin actually interacts with anybody at samsung ?
