Re: HTC Desire FROYO 2.2 Update

[ Edited ]

As I said earlier, I should be able to get an answer to this on Monday.

To be honest, it's not something that Virgin's customer services can fix. The firmware updates are delivered by HTC's servers - so they should identify the firmware version you currently have and offer the appropriate update.

Why it's not doing is something that would have to be escalated.

Re: HTC Desire FROYO 2.2 Update

Well.

I have a Virgin HTC Desire, that is now on an Orange sim card due to a work contract.

I have downloaded the update, then the 2.2 Froyo update. (I had to wait for the VM push as they supplied the phone).

It went smoothly, I didn't lose any of my apps, or texts, or music, or settings, the SD card is recognised, and all is well.

Unlike a LOT of people I know on other service providers who have all had some sort of glitch on 2.2.

Well done VM, and thanks.

Re: HTC Desire FROYO 2.2 Update

Regarding the 720p video recording - The reports I've read suggest you need a fairly quick SD card to take full advantage of this, I think the one that comes with the phone is a class 4 which *can* drop frames as it can't write to the SD card fast enough to sustain the 30fps framerate most would consider "smooth". You also have to bear in mind that whilst you are recording at 720p you are doing so via such a small camera/lense that it's hardly going to be comparable to a "proper" 720p HD camcorder. In short it should look a bit sharper then the standard def recording but may not be very smooth unless you've upgraded your SD card to a faster one!

Re: HTC Desire FROYO 2.2 Update

Hi Mark,

I, like a few others i believe, have an unmodified desire which has the software version 1.21.405.2.

Can you advise on the 2.2 update plan for these versions.

My desire is a Virgin provided and has not been modified in anyway.

Many thaks,

Re: HTC Desire FROYO 2.2 Update

Since updating to 2.2 a couple of days ago, my sd card has not been recognised. It is not seen in my settings menu and I am asked to insert card when trying to access music and photos. It has never had a problem before the upgrade, and I have re-seated and cleaned the contacts on the card to no avail. I have rebooted phone .

I have not got another card to try, and obviously don't want to buy another in case I still have same problem.

Any suggestions?

Just to check, have you done a manual check via Settings > About Phone > System Software Updates

Re: HTC Desire FROYO 2.2 Update

I'm having the same situation.

Have even tried to do a manual check with both 3g and with my wi-fi enabled.

Re: HTC Desire FROYO 2.2 Update

Can someone clarify something for me. Froyo is something like a 95mb download, so do you have to have that much free internal phone memory or does part of it overlap the last update so you don't need that much?

Re: HTC Desire FROYO 2.2 Update

17:55 on 15/11/2010 No firmware update. Called tech support. Sam told me that I have to get it directly from HTC. Apparently you don't have access to all the firmwares. Seems to me that you've updated my HTC to 1.21.405.1 (2.1-update1) and the HTC website does not like it.
