HELP - Setting up email on iphone 4 ??

Hi

Trying to set up email on iphone 4. Put ingoing/outgoing/password in and its just stuck on verifying.

I have an ntlworld.com account. I goto add maill account in settings >new account>

imput following - 

POP ACCOUNT

INCOMING - 

username - name at start email addy before @ 

password - ********
Host Name - pop.ntlworld.com

OUTGOING - 

Host Name - smtp.ntlworld.com

User Name - blank

password - blank

I am inputting the exact same settings from thunderbird.

Anyone help me ? Was working fine on my blackberry.

Just to add it just states 'verifying' for ages. I am on o2 and using wifi with virgin.

Hi

Your username to set up your account is the funny combination of letters and numbers allocated by Virgin when you first joined.  If you can find it give that a try and it should do the trick

I was never given this, my username has always been the start of my email ?

I have used this on other email setups and it works fine ??

Hi, I don't suppose you have your welcome letter still? On the front of mine is stuck a small card and it's the Internet username that you need.

If you don't have perhaps Customer Services may be able to help.

the settings are now all virgin media regardless it it being an NTL or Blue yonder email account pick from here:

Enabled (or 'Password' on Macs)

SMTP username
Full e-mail address, e.g., richard.branson@virginmedia.com




Receiving mail (POP3)

Enabled

POP3 port
995

POP3 authentication
Enabled (or 'Password' on Macs)

POP3 username
Full e-mail address, e.g., richard.branson@virginmedia.com

POP3 SPA (Secure Password Authentication)
Disabled

IMAP4 server name
imap.virginmedia.com

IMAP4 SSL
Enabled

IMAP4 port

IMAP4 authentication
Enabled (or 'Password' on Macs)

If your phone does not ask for specific info then thats ok



Only choose 1 option from IMAP or POP3 for receiving
