Hi there, recently my mother gave me her old blackberry curve 8520 it was on contract on virgin. I myself use virgin pay as you go sim card on my old phone. When I put my pay as you go sim into the blackberry I'm able to make calls, send and receive texts. However I am unable to set up and use email, internet and bbm services. I also ran a diagnostic test and the result indicates "Blackberry Registration:No, Connected to Blackberry:No, Blackberry PIN-PIN:No". What do I need to do? Please help!

You can't just use a normal pay as you go card. All the services you mentioned are provided by the company "RIM" (in other words, blackberry) so in order to use these, you have to pay them as well. That probably means getting a blackberry contract. Just having the phone is not good enough as you will only have the same info on the sim card that you did in your old phone.

Hi DNBK,
You can purchase a Blackberry pass on payg by texting the word 'week' or 'month' to 789030 for either £2 or £5 respectively. This can be done on all payg plans apart from an old tariff called Daily Bonus. If you're not on this you'll be fine - if you are you'd need to call up 789 and change the plan to a newer tariff.
Many thanks.
