4s with Virgin micro sim - will it work abroad?

Hi - wondering if anyone could help me..

ive got a simonly with virgin, iphone 4s. All works well - followed instructions from here and created my own APN etc.

Im going to America next week - ive phoned customer services and my roaming has all been switched on, but i have heard SO MANY horror storys of people who have got abroad and their phones dont actually work.

I need to know mine will work - is there anything else i can do to ensure this?

Hi

My Mum rcently went to Rhodes, and when she turned her phone on, nothing!

As in no network, so she had to go into settings and the choose one of the Mobile Operators over there, and then it worked!!

PS and her roaming was already switched on

Hi,

i went to america last year (florida) and mine worked just fine

i had roaming switched on

my phone just connected automatically to at and t i think

i didnt have a micro sim though just the normal one

I have a 4S, no problems in US, France, Malta, Spain etc. I now use Truphone over a WiFi connection because it's much cheaper.

Alls I do when I go away is put a O2 PAYG Sim in just for texts and turn off roaming and cellular data and just use Wi-Fi for Web, Skype, Touch, WhatsApp, FB, email ETC you can't go wrong this way!!
