Water damage

I have a contract with Virgin and my iPhone 6 is less than a year old. Last night I knocked it into a shallow basin of water and it has stopped working. I don't have insurance. What do I need to do?

Re: Water damage

you get free insurance with virgin moblie if i am right

B. How to contact us
Phone: 0345 030 3291*
8am-9pm Mon-Fri, 9am-6pm at weekends; closed Bank Holidays.
Email: virginmedia@asurion.com
Write: Virgin Media mobile insurance
PO Box 71012, London W4 9FW
C. The cost
If mobile insurance is an integrated benefit of your tariff, Virgin Media
will pay the Administrator the monthly premium. If added as a
chargeable extra, your monthly premium is £7.99 (or £11.99 if you have
an iPhone) payable in advance and collected by the administrator
through a separate Direct Debit (reference: NEWAsurion Europe LTD
RE VirginPhoneIns). If payment isn’t received, your cover will finish at
the end of the paid period. Your cover automatically renews for up to 59
months at which point we’ll cancel your policy.
The excess fee (which is the amount you have to pay towards the cost
of your replacement device to complete a successful claim) is based on
the mobile phone value band as follows:
Band A: £150 Band B: £70 Band C: £35
As your device ages and falls in value, we’ll adjust your excess fee
downwards. Call us to find out your current excess fee

Re: Water damage

Hi Les1

Welcome to the community Smiley Happy

I'm sorry to hear about your handset.

There are a few options available at this point to consider though.

First of all, check with your bank (especially if you have a fee-paying account) and also your home contents insurance policy as they may cover this for you (an excess may be payable).

If not, it may be possible for our repair centre or the manufacturer to repair the phone for you (depending on how much damage the water has caused sometimes it's not possible/economic to do this though). The repair would be chargeable in this case. If you call us on 789 / 0345 600 0789 we can take a look for you.

You could speak with us to check the amount outstanding on your current deal as paying this off would mean you could upgrade to a new handset right away.

The final option, would be to purchase a handset SIM Free which you could then use with your Virgin Mobile SIM. All of our Pay As You Go handsets would also be compatible, but in some cases you may need to chat with the team so we can send a different sized SIM out. The SIM supplied with the handset will be Pay As You Go.

Let us know how you get on.

Many thanks
