Upgrade Confusion

I log onto my account, and select "Plan & Device" and then change my tariff.

 

I'm after an unlimited data option.

 

There are two options:

 

VIP SIM ONLY, both £15 a month, same minutes and same texts but one has 2GB data and one has unlimited data?

 

Why is this, what's the difference?

 I'm afraid we no longer offer unlimited data on our tariffs. I believe the highest we know offer on Sim Only is 5GB.

 

Give us a call on 789 or 0345 6000 789 and we'll be happy to help.

At the moment due to gliches with the Virgin Mobile site, strangely enough I have an old Aspire that I can get on to the mobile site with, I tried it out yesterday to see if it would work, I also looked at changin the data package and there is a packge that offers Unlimited Minutes, Unlimited Texts and Unlimited Data for £20, I then read in another thread where any data package above 2gb was practically useless as the fair usage kicked in and you were not being able to access data you had paid for.  Strange.

Would the cheaper tariff be the same a my current one?

I would say the best would be to go for one of the new tarrifs
http://store.virginmedia.com/virgin-media-mobile/sim-only/pay-monthly-sim.html
The £15 one would get you unlimited minutes/texts with 0845 and 0870 numbers included + 4gig data, on the old sims with Unlimited data, the speed is cut down to a unusable speed @ 3.5gig.

You'll need to ring in on 789, take the "thinking of leaving us" option during office hours.

Is this the official line from Virgin or hearsay? I'm never get above 2 gig but like the idea of retaining an unlimited tariff?

 

Also, do all tariffs come with free 0845/0870 numbers now as the 'plus' part of my current tariff was added recently at my request

Ringing 789 and taking the "thinking of leaving us" option during office hours, gets you a good chance of speaking to someone in the UK.

In the link above, the ones with the + sign come with the 0845 and 0870 numbers included, if you don't go over 2gig - the £12 should suit you.
