My new 4G Virgin SIM card

Just received 2 new Virgin 4G SIM cards today for mine and the wifes phone. Got them activated but only still receiving a 3G signal with a network speed of about 12mbs. No sign of 4G?

Changed the setting on both phones to LTE. One phone is a iphone 6, the other is an iphone 5c. So both are compatible?

We are in an "Excellant" area for reception in Belfast City Centre. Moved about various locations - no change.

Wife was on 4G before with EE and had a good 4G signal on the same phone?

Any ideas why we are not receiving a 4G signal?

Re: My new 4G Virgin SIM card

Yes, is this an update for your sim only plan?

If it is then 4G kicks in at the next refresh date, or you would have paid for two months its in the t&c's it's always been thus

Re: My new 4G Virgin SIM card

Yes - both SIM upgrades. I suppose waiting a few more weeks for 4G wont hurt. Only been waiting for 2 years for Virgin 4G!

Re: My new 4G Virgin SIM card

I’m having the same issue and specifically asked the csa on the phone today (twice) if that’s why I’m not getting 4G and they said I should get a 4G connection immediately after activating the new sim I was sent.

It would certainly make sense so maybe someone can confirm that you won’t get a 4G signal until your refresh date?

Re: My new 4G Virgin SIM card

You might have done this already, but if not, go to https://mobile.virginmedia.com/ecare/login then click Plan and Device then Activate.

Re: My new 4G Virgin SIM card

If you look on your online account, I expect it still shows a 3G allowance until the refresh date as per the T@C's

Re: My new 4G Virgin SIM card

If you have signal issues on 3G and the frequency EE currently use for 4G has less penetration than the 3G frequency I expect you'll not improve, hopefully I'm wrong as some parts of the country do have access to the stronger frequency
