Cannot signup to sim only plan - problem with DOB

I have tried twice to sign up a sim only plan today online, both times I have had to ring virgin, only to be told my the date of birth i provided doesn't match the one at my bank.

I have spoke with my bank and they confirmed it is the same, and were confused as to why my date of birth is required for a direct debit.

Any ideas? I want to complete the order online as I am going through a cashback website.
