Re: Being charged for internet while sleeping and have wifi

Are you sure he is sleeping and not messing with it during the night.

I know phones will use some data etc even on WIFI but not that much and not at night while idle.

Not too clued up on apple but could it be some system updates or was it more than a few times?

Hi jhuk

I would have said the same but he's 12 and the phone is definitely not in use at the times virgin are saying Going to try calling again but because I've not noticed for a couple of bills I'm not entirely sure I can do much Thought I'd try here

Thanks again

Re: Being charged for internet while sleeping and have wifi

Our 5 phones use little amounts of data all the time, this will be during day and night and also while connected to WiFi, the phones are 2 Andriod, 2 windows phones and a iphone4.

Only guaranteed way to stop it, is to turn mobile data off on the phone.

Re: Being charged for internet while sleeping and have wifi

Hi cobbie7,

Welcome to the communitySmiley Happy and thanks for your post.

I can see you've had some great advice from jhuk and teabag.

Could I suggest as teabag mentioned turning the data off on the phone over night for a few days. You could then go back and check if any data was being used on these dates. Just a thought.

You also said that you were charged for data. Was this definitely the case as most tariffs we supply have a data allowance which should cover data usage.

Let us know if you need any further assistance.

Many thanks
