Ok, so we all know that VM has to do something to drag new customers away from sky etc. but why on earth are the deals for long term existing customers so much worse?
im not just talking about a pound or two.. the best deal we have been offered as a customer from as long as the NTL days is the full house bundle for ~£70 a month. for that we have to sign a new contract, but dont get the new v6 box, dont get the hub3 or even the hub2ac. we would have to keep the hub2 and old 500g tivo box.
yet for £55 or 12 months (going up to £72 a month) we managed to negotiate (until they discovered we already had an account) the same deal (full house tv and vivid 200), but with the hub3, v6 1Tb box, gamer add on, tv evenings and weekends, with sky sports package free for a month, and all installation and one off costs waived.
thats not just a small difference... we have now been told that to get that deal we have to leave, stay away from virgin (returning all our stuff) and go back in three months, which seems totally counter productive to me..
given that at the moment we pay £75 a month for a package substantially worse than new customers get for £50 a month, they bank too much on us not leaving. we are looking for other options since being told that the best offer they can give to existing customers is £20 more, and still substantially worse, than they give new customers.
Isn't "best deals for new customers" , the same in all walks of life ? New customers , new contracts , guarunteed revenue stream for the length of the new contract. Remember , everyone is a new customer at least once
