payment failure, money still taken

I have been told my payments have failed all 3 times that I have tried to pay, this being £72.99. Adjustments have been added to my bill of an extra £72.99 and each adjustment is described as: D.D. DENIED-REFER TO PAYE. I have made 3 payments and each failed, however, 2 payments of £72.99 have been withdrawn from 2 accounts which I have used to try to pay my bills.

What on earth do I do? ... And is there any way I can get my money back as it is not my fault that the payments have been denied as I have tried to pay my bill 3 times....
