New Customers V Current Customers

Can it please be explained how new customers seem to be able to get a better deal than current customers?

Can a current customer leave (minimum term contract is already expired) and then simply re-join as a new customer in order to get the new customer better prices?

When I called to discuss this, only options I was provided with is to leave, or adjust my current package to lower my prices, but a new customer will get everything I have, but for a much lower price that I am paying?

That is the business model adopted by most companies nowadays ... attract new customers in, lock them into an 18 month contract and don't care if some existing customers leave.  There is no such thing as customer loyalty any more.

You have to have been without a VM service for at least 6 months to qualify as a 'new customer' so not much of a workaround there.
