Made an early payment

I made an early payment on for my broadband bill and when it came to the direct debit due date I was charged again. So I've paid a two month bill twice.

Is there any way to get the early payment reversed?

Re: Made an early payment

If it was a card payment, as long as your next bill hasn't been produced yet then Customer Services would be able to reverse it back on to the same card. Due to the way banking works this isn't instant - it can take up to three working days I believe.

However if your next bill has been produced it would include the extra payment. So it would cause some problems to reverse the payment as the Direct Debit couldn't be amended to take the additional amount. So you'd have to pay on card for the amount that was reversed at some point again.

If the card payment is more than the bill amount i.e. the next bill is £0 due and there is still a credit balance, this would be take forward until it's used up. So you will automatically get the money back as the Direct Debit won't be taken whilst the extra payment is paying for the bills.
