Cancelling contract

Hi
I'm having trouble cancelling my contract
I phoned up on the 1st of October to cancel and give my 30 days notice and they sent me s bill in November for Novembers bill
I had a new BT line fitted on the 12th of October so I haven't used any data since
They are calling me a liar saying I didn't phone to cancel
Please anybody having the same problem please help
