You don't need to pay for a fixed line. But because of how VM price their services the reduction in your monthly subscription won't be the full value of the line rental.
If you want to cancel your services then you will have to phone in or use web chat ("Contact Us" link at the bottom of any VM web page). You can't do it from here or otherwise on line. Calls are free from a VM fixed or mobile phone - 150, otherwise 0345 454 1111 options 1,4,5.
