Silent call from: 00000000000

Hi,

I'm a little worried because over the last 3 weeks I have had this number "00000000000" ring me up to 4 times a day, and some times in the early hours of the morning.  The 1st time it rang me was at 2.30am, so I answered the call incase there had been a family emergency, but on answering the phone, the call was silent. I thought the number looked unusual with it being eleven zero's, as I didn't know that such a number could exsist. I now have Caller display activated on my phone, which displays this number ringing, but, it's so annoying that when it rings and on occasions of me answering the call....nothing is said back.   Has any one else had a call or calls from this number, & can any one shed any light on who the hell it is ringing me a at all times of the day.

                               Cheers for any feedback dozer167

I can't shed any light on who may be ringing you but are you signed up to the Telephone Preference Service? This is a service which prevents cold callers from dialling your number. More info here:

Amanda, dont think it will be a cold caller at 2.30 in the morning.

If you dial 1471 what number is given and does the time corrospond with the time you received the call?

The number that is displayed on "Caller display" is the same when I dial 1471

And yes the number 00000000000 does correspond with the correct time that I have received these calls.

I've experienced this time of thing in the past, but always a proper telephone number was spoken on 1471, so getting the 11 zero's is really weird, and to be honest spooked me out, as I didn't think such a number could exsist.

amandafay,

I am already signed up to TPS which prevents uk unsolicitored calls, but not sure what rules apply to international unsolicitored incoming calls.

Hi dozer167,

I've had a quick search on Google and there are lots of reports of people being cold called by this number.

It looks like it originates from abroad - you should call the TPS to report that you are getting these calls.

Regards

[ Edited ]

Thanks Laura_S for your reply.

I am registered with TPS & made contact with them yesterday 03/03/2011.

From what I have been told by them, there is very little that can be done, as it appears that the "00000000000" number originates from out side the uk.

If it was from the UK they could intervene and prosecute, as everdently they have had numerous complaints over this number.

So it looks like I am just going to have to accept the fact that nothing can be done when these ba*#~*ds call.

I have now assigned a silent ring tone for this number, so I wont be woken up in the early hours of the morning by them.

Thank you, and all other members of the forum team & forum users who have commented on this annoying situation.

                                                              Regards dozer167
