Hi, I'm a new Virgin Media customer, and everything seems to be going fairly smoothly so far except for the My Virgin Media problems that are documented on the Service Status page.
One minor issue that I'm currently having is that I do not receive an intermittent dial tone when I have an unread voicemail message, and thus I have to dial 1571 to check my voicemail to see if I do have any unread messages. I'd obviously prefer to be notified that I have unread messages. I've dialed 150 twice so far, but this has failed to resolve the issue. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? Is it my phone, or is it something at the exchange? I've only had Virgin Media installed today, so should I wait longer?
Apart from the lack of intermittent dial tone, voicemail appears to be working correctly. I found these threads previously about the same topic: http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Telephone/No-B
Thanks in advance!

Hi Budoc,
I've taken a look at the telephone exchange, and think the settings for your message waiting indicator just needed switching on.
I've left a test on the line. Could you give that a go for me now, and let me know if you still have an issue?
Thanks

Hi Luisa,
I think that worked! Many thanks for your rapid response, and for taking a look at my problem for me.

Hi there
I also have this problem with our phone. Before I switched to Virgin I used to get an intermittent tone if there were unlistened to messages on the phone voicemail, but now I have to dial 1571 to hear if there are any messages. This does take more getting used to and we are finding that we are missing some messages because of the lack of a reminder (i.e. the intermittent tone).
An additional issue is that the phone only rings for about 3 or 4 rings before it "gives up" and the caller then gets directed to the message centre. Is there any way of changing this?
Many thanks
Suzanne
