Re: Revenge of the twitch TV issues

Hi MaxiLive,

Apologies for the problems you're having of late but my tests show that the downstream power levels on your Hub are much too low and will need to be amended by an engineer.

As these will undoubtedly be causing, or at least contributing to, the problems you are having I think it best to get this sorted out first.

I've sent you a PM so that we can arrange a date & time for an appointment, which I'll be happy to do as soon as I receive your reply.

Many thanks :smileyhappy:

Re: Revenge of the twitch TV issues

Hi anty1,

As per your request I've checked but can find no area fault. Utilisation is a little high at peak times but if you're having problems outside of those hours that would render utilisation irrelevant as a potential culprit anyway.

What kind of problems are you having. and are these related only to Twitch TV ?

Many thanks,

Jen

Re: Revenge of the twitch TV issues

To all who have posted on here,

Thanks for letting us know that you're having problems.  The last time we had numerous reports of problems with this we were able make some alterations to the routing which seemed to work for almost all who'd reported issues.

We've not changed anything since so it's unlikely (though not impossible of course) that there is anything we could do this time.

The best approach for this is firstly to rule out anything else that might be affecting your connection. The next would be to gather some more information from you, partly to rule some things out but mostly because if this is a generalised issue we should see a) a lot of customers reporting the same thing & b) identical problems.

With this is mind:

  • What is the precise nature of the problem you have with Twitch TV?
  • Do you get the same problem when using other streaming media (if so provide examples)?
  • Does this affect you all the time or otherwise?
  • Have you tried other devices?
  • If you normally connect via wireless please connect via ethernet and let us know if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance for this, we'll see what this information helps us to unearth.

Many thanks,

Jen

Re: Revenge of the twitch TV issues

  • What is the precise nature of the problem you have with Twitch TV?

Constant buffering (no more than about 2 or 3 mins of uninterrupted play at a time) on any quality higher than medium

  • Do you get the same problem when using other streaming media (if so provide examples)?

No

  • Does this affect you all the time or otherwise?

All the time, although I'm only at home evenings and weekends so I wouldn't know about other times

  • Have you tried other devices?

No, I don't have access to Twitch any other way

  • If you normally connect via wireless please connect via ethernet and let us know if that makes any difference.

I only use ethernet anyway.

I'm actually get a much better Twitch experience at the moment when connected using my VPN, which is counter-intuitive :smileysurprised:

Re: Revenge of the twitch TV issues

Hi there,

Just to throw my issues into the pot.

I'm also having problems watching twitch. Started a week or so ago. I'm in the DY3 area, Dudley, West Midlands. Essentially, it buffers every 30 seconds or so (even on the lowest quality setting, for me), impossible to watch. Zero problems watching streams on the same machine using a phone dongle or an orange wifi dongle etc. I am connected to my VM hub via ethernet. Same issue on each of the 3 machines I use on this VM connection. None of them display the issue using other connections.

  • What is the precise nature of the problem you have with Twitch TV?

Buffering every 20-30 seconds. Unwatchable.

  • Do you get the same problem when using other streaming media (if so provide examples)?

I do not.

  • Does this affect you all the time or otherwise?

Seemingly all the time.

  • Have you tried other devices?

Yes. I have the same issue when connected via my VM connection.

  • If you normally connect via wireless please connect via ethernet and let us know if that makes any difference.

Connected via ethernet cable.

Have tried on laptop and on phone, both continually stop to buffer.

Re: Revenge of the twitch TV issues

Hi tony7t2,

Thanks for posting, looking at your connection I can see that your modems downstream power levels are too high and will be contributing to any browsing/streaming problems you'll be having at the moment.

We'll need to arrange for an engineer visit to get these adjusted, I'll drop you a quick Private Message so we can this booked in.

Cheers

Re: Revenge of the twitch TV issues

Hi Ben,

As mentioned, I can see that upgrade work has been completed on your cable  and checking your connection from this end I can't see any apparent issues that currently could be causing problems with live streaming.

If you're still experiencing the same problems with Twitch could you please try placing the SuperHub in modem mode and testing your connection with Twitch once more.

Many Thanks
