I've never posted before on a technical forums for advice and am not sure on how to run tests that might give me the right answers so I want to thank people for their patience in advance when they are looking to help me.
I have been having a problem over the last week/2weeks with latency spikes on WoW. The game usually runs along quite nicely at about 30ms home and world. Recently I have started having issues where without warning the latency will begin to raise to about 100. After this it will frequently fluctuate from around 800-3000 ms Home and World. This will happen every 5-10 minutes and each instance can last anything from 5 seconds to 5 minutes.
I have spoken with Virgin on the phone and after explaining my issue to 3 different people I was ultimately advised to post my query here.
I understand that I might need to do a trace through CMD (tracert?) but i'm not sure what IP address i need to trace to and then how to copy and paste it.
I play on Defias Brotherhood - EU if that has any relevance in terms of IP address.
My router is a Virgin Media Super Hub version 2.0, software version V2.39.02.
I'd really appreciate any assistance. This is affecting both me and my wife on different machines.
Both my computer and my Wife's computer are connecting wireless. Her laptop has Lenovo's own internal wireless network card. Mine has MSI's internal but I have also tried with a Netgear WNDA3100 usb network card to try and eliminate the internal card being the issue.

Thanks for getting back to me and providing some trace routes Due to the nature of the problem it can be difficult to capture. Can you provide a trace route through a wired connection as close as possible to the times you notice these problems for us to have a look at?
