so my clan decided to get a battlefield 4 server, we previously had one a good year ago, anyway i went on it and noticed my ping was 48, i was baffled, its a uk server, so i went to a german server and my ping was 30ms o.o, how do you work that out, how can my ping be less to a server a good 400+ miles away to one thats probably less than half that.
my other provider which is bt, is giving me 12ms, which is about right. is this down to virgin?
The routing is different though it'll be of no surprise to note that aorta.net is affiliated to Liberty Global!
I'll certainly take steps to determine if there is a reason for this routing path and whether or not a change would be made on the basis of the slightly elevated ping times.
I'll keep you updated on that.
The other thing I noted when testing your connection was that the Channel SNR is very low. This would have an impact on performance so I've escalate it to Networks for investigation. As soon as they provide me with a fault reference I'll let you know.
my channels snrs are too low? I thought they were best around 0, also ive done a traceroute on my dads sky fttc connection and this one also goes directly to the server, so it seems like its only virgin routing it weirdly.
but yeah, nobody in the uk should get higher ping to a server that close compared to one so far.
dont see how it can be my connection though as i havent seen any speed reduction and every other game is fine, its just that one server that im getting higher ping on and as you can see from the trace, virgin is routing it out of the uk and back in.
