Upgraded to Superhub2 AC and 200mb at weekend and high latency/lag when playing games!

Hi,

Upgraded to Superhub2 AC and 200mb at weekend and high latency/lag when playing games!

Speedtest was ok at the weekend - download 170-180mb and upload around 10mb but kids now complain of lag when playing games - Overwatch etc

Superhub 2AC is in modem mode connected to a SYNOLOGY 1900ac - no issues with lag etc on previous conneciton 150mb Superhub 1.

No Broadband issues reported via website service status.

Superhub 2AC and Synology 1900AC rebooted several times.

Please see below are the router status and any help/troubleshooting appreciated:

Re: Upgraded to Superhub2 AC and 200mb at weekend and high latency/lag when playing games!

Your Docsis channels may of changed and I'm guessing the SH2 AC is in modem mode and not switched back?

You can setup a BQM to see how things are
http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping

you can test limit your QoS in your SYNOLOGY 1900ac to like 100Mb down and 5Mb up then go here to test BufferBloat.

Thanks for that, Your Docsis channels may of changed and I'm guessing the SH2 AC is in modem mode and not switched back? What is this and wpuld this be the cause of the issue? Does this need to be checked rectified? Please see test results below: DSLREPORT: THINKBROADBAND: I had already set this up but 100% packet loss! - something needs to be enabled on VM modem (no access to settings as its in modem mode)?

is the SH2ac in modem mode yes or no?

You need to enable ping reply in your SYNOLOGY 1900ac router

can you setup the QoS in your SYNOLOGY 1900ac router to like I said?

Applogies- currently accessing home network remotely and had setup QOS -100mb/s download and 5mb/s upload in firewall setting on Synology router but may not have saved or I lost connection!

ICMP also enabled now in firewall instance creation on Synology router

DSLREPORT results:

THINKBROADBAND running again and will post results later

Re: Upgraded to Superhub2 AC and 200mb at weekend and high latency/lag when playing games!

Forgot to mention- all affected computers in household connected to the home network are connected via ethernet cable (powerline or direct cable into router). Tested with wifi and same lag issues when kids play games only.

Your doing speed tests by wire? and without powerline?

wired and connected to 1200mb devolo powerline (1x kids pc) - wasn't an issue before upgrade from 150 to 200mb

I can test to another computer - wired straight into router if this helps?

Re: Upgraded to Superhub2 AC and 200mb at weekend and high latency/lag when playing games!

Things that seem to be related may really not be.

Stuff downloading and uploading on a given wireless channel can causes problems for gaming on the same channel same goes with powerline a wire connection to your Synology router will correctly show the speed and buffer test of your QoS.

Your BQM may show other problems but you have to note when you do speed tests and it spikes if your QoS settings are to high or the available bandwidth for the given docsis channels your on is low due to everyone in the area downloading or uploading. If your connection is mostly idle and BQM shows spikes and packet loss then thats a problem.
