I didn't used to watch these forums until I had the misfortune of being charged £15 for a Hub 3 to go with my new Vivid 200 gamer service. Once I had that running I was straight on here ready to shout at someone.
The issue with the pings you're seeing is that Virgin's equipment is awful. The Hub 3 is the worst router I have ever had to deal with. Ever.
Over the nearly 2 weeks since my upgrade I have used the Hub 3, then went back to the SH2ac and finally bought a second hand router and used that with the SH2ac.
These are the results (the new router installed this morning).

It's rubbish that we should need to shell out for equipment to make our connection usable but that's what I recommend for you in this case.

My apologies you are having issues with your broadband connection.
From checking your connection, the downstream power levels are too low and the upstream is only locked onto one channel and running too high. As this can have an impact on your connection, I would like to arrange an engineer appointment to adjust these for you.
