Sudden increase in ping and speed.

So I have not had any issues with virgin media for a long time. But this past week has been really annoying.

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4705793205# ( This is my normal internet connection which I have been getting, and still get during the day )

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4707498220 ( When my internet goes bad

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4704429976 ( What I currently get once 6pm comes,this lasts until around 1am )

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4703028899 ( Another example of my internet working fine )

I use a weird connection, and the amount of users on the internet has not changed in the past 12 months.

According to the company, when I called, they said there are no issues in my area, so then I ask, why the sudden change?

I live in Liverpool

Re: Sudden increase in ping and speed.

Hi JordanT

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear of the slow speeds that you have been experiencing. When checking your connection there is a ticket open for peak time contention under reference F003294185. The estimated review date is set for 11/11/2015 with work expected to go ahead this month.

There are also problems with the downstream power levels which will exacerbate this type of fault. We will need to get these levels adjusted so I will send you a PM to arrange an engineer visit.

Speak soon

Re: Sudden increase in ping and speed.

Was wondering if there was any update on reference F003294185 ( 11/11/2015 estimated review date )

Thanks

Re: Sudden increase in ping and speed.

Hi JordanT

Thanks for getting back to us.. I've had a look at the updates for fault F003294185.  The ticket updates show that additional downstream channels have been added recently which has helped but the peak time load is still breaching thresholds so further work will be required to resolve this problem. The next review date estimated for 03/03/2016.

Apologies for the delay and any inconvenience caused.

Kind regards

Re: Sudden increase in ping and speed.

Another 4 months of these issues? It is nearly impossible to stream movies currently. And gaming is completely out of the question. I wouldn't mind but I am paying for a service which I am not even receiving and by the next estimated review date it will of been like this for 6 months.

Re: Sudden increase in ping and speed.

I'm having very similar issues. I also live in Liverpool and once 6pm comes I have to stop gaming, considering I work 9-5 I basically can't enjoy my hobbie. Although my issue is slightly different to yours as my download speed still stays pretty good but my ping is awful. Waiting another 4 months is a joke.
