SH3 Issues?

Hi there, hoping someone can help me out

Received a new Super Hub 3 about two weeks ago,was using the Super Hub before (the first one) reason being is i was told i needed it for the free speed upgrade (went from 100Mbps>150Mbps)

Setup was SH in modem mode connected to a Netgear R7000 and then wired to a PS4,no issues whatsoever

Got the new SH3 and set it up the same way and now it feels as though I'm having issues

Getting into games on the PS4 takes longer than before, noticed this straight away also when doing a speed test it says "IP Fragmentation" issue which i have never had before although this message is random, sometimes it shows up and other times it doesnt and judging by Google it shouldnt have an effect but even so it definitely never came up before on the old SH

I use ethernet while gaming so its not taking awhile to get into games because of a wireless issue

Now last week i set up the SH3 on it's own to see if these issues went away and they were still there so ive gone back to modem mode and using the R7000

One thing i did notice was,my old SH had a 10dB attenuator connected to it and because this was the setup,i left it on and attached it to the new SH3

These are the logs so if someone could take a look and see if there are any issues then that would be great

Re: SH3 Issues?

Didn't think you have a SH3 you likely got a SH2 or SH2ac their have been posts about issues the newer super hubs have with the Netgear R7000 that the SH1 didn't have.

When you swapped your super hub and put it in modem mode was your WAN IP the same or is it a different one on your Netgear R7000?

Run Netalyzr
http://netalyzr.icsi.berkeley.edu/
and check under UDP connectivity that fragmented UDP traffic is fine and check Path MTU is 1500 bytes.

Sorry my mistake, yes its the SH2ac

I'm assuming it was the same,i ran speed tests afterwards and the IP address both looked the same

Re: SH3 Issues?

Netalyzr shows all fine

Its odd a speed test would say "IP Fragmentation" issue on a TCP so likely the problem is routing for the PS4 speed test somewhere and their service.

Regrettably that might be hard to go back to the SH1 but you can try they may drop you in speed.

Re: SH3 Issues?

Thanks for the help and info

In all fairness, its not about the speed its the performance and these issues online (gaming on the PS4) only started with the installation of the SH2ac

I have a friend on the highest broadband speed with Virgin Media and he is still using the SH so i will ring up and see if that can happen here,i use my own router so the SH will only ever be in modem mode but once again, thank you for your time =)

I have a SH2 and it works just fine with my R7000 and my PS4, going on two years now.  Doing a search of the forum does show a few previous issues which seem to be mainly with the SH2ac.  Maybe VM could swap your SH2ac for a plain old SH2.

Unlikely your friend is on 200Mbs with an original SH as there is no 200Mbps config for that model.
