Random Ping spikes and stutter - NN15 Northamptonshire/Kettering Area

Seems to be having random lag spikes of from 30ms to 200 then back down slowly, then straight up a minute later on League of legends/WoW/RS

Also have this weird stutter in CS:GO that doesn't show my ping going up in game but does show it going up and down on netgraph.

Completely unplayable anyone shed some light?

Re: Random Ping spikes and stutter - NN15 Northamptonshire/Kettering Area

Hi Jakeyoyo,

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear you've been getting lag spikes.

I've just checked your connection to see what could be causing them and everything looks normal. Your power levels SNR and area contention are fine. The contention does get higher at peak times as expected which may affect your ping speeds. Could you post your netgraph here for us to take a look at and compare with our own readings and see if there is a correlation?

There have been some on and off issues with EU servers mainly affecting CS:GO. Could you post a traceroute to the servers you play on for us to take a look at and determine where this lag begins?

Same Problem Here Smiley Sad

Supports just going in circles, ping www.google.co.uk -> Modem Mode -> Safe Mode -> Repeat. It kind of annoying.

Re: Random Ping spikes and stutter - NN15 Northamptonshire/Kettering Area

After coming back from uni for the summer in hope it's fixed, nothings changed randomly sitting on 35ms, then up to 200 then a few seconds later slowly down to 30, on all games.

Tried Modem mode/resetting/different computers/cables etc

Don't really have an idea what can be causing it, maybe a bad home hub, I'm not too sure

Re: Random Ping spikes and stutter - NN15 Northamptonshire/Kettering Area

Same problem here, I have had the problem now for nearly a month.

Rang virgin media twice now, first time they just reset the modem from their end, which was a waste of time.

The second time I rang they were much more helpful but still couldn't get the problem resolved. I have a engineer from virgin booked in for tomorrow so I will let you know if the problem gets resolved.

At this moment I am paying for 200mbps broadband and its completely terrible, but I have been with virgin for around 10 years and this is the first time I have ever had a problem with my broadband. Its the only thing that has kept me from switching to sky so hopefully fingers crossed I wont have to do that.

Gaming is a no go at the moment or is streaming from twitch only in medium to high quality.

They do say it depends on what servers your connecting to, but I've been gaming since cs 1.6 so I know what I am talking about regards to connections.

Good luck!

Re: Random Ping spikes and stutter - NN15 Northamptonshire/Kettering Area

Yeah, telling someone what the 1.6 netgraph is in relation to why it's lagging is like pulling teeth.

I'm sure they'll tell me to do something that is completely irrelevant to the internet xD

Re: Random Ping spikes and stutter - NN15 Northamptonshire/Kettering Area

Hi Jakeyoyo Smiley Happy

Thank you for coming in and posting again.

I'm sorry to read that you've still been having some intermittent issues on the broadband. I've been testing the connection at this very moment and found that the services are working well.

Can you tell me if there's been any change in service since your last post?

Take care.

Ben

Still the same, every 2-5minutes a random 3 second MS spike in games to 200, then back to normal.
