Port forward on XboxOne (Strict NAT)?

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased an XboxOne, I have noticed I seem to be stuck behind a strict NAT sometimes but at other times it is open. I want it open all of the time.

I have read about port forwarding for the XboxOne but am completely unsure how to do it, can anybody please run me through the process to fix this?

Thank you.

Re: Port forward on XboxOne (Strict NAT)?

Hi, Quinn

Log into the Superhub 192.168.0.1

Click Advanced

Go to DHCP reservation

Click the entry for the XBox One in the top list

Click Add Reservation

Note the IP address and Click apply at the bottom of the screen. (If you don't the reservation will not be saved)

Go to Port Forwarding

Give the rule a name say XB1-1

Enter first Port and port in both boxes - in this case 88

Select protocol - in this case UDP

In the IP address box add the last digit of the xbox one IP

Click Add Rule

Repeat for other ports too

Xbox Live requires the following ports to be open:

  • Port 88 (UDP)
  • Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
  • Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
  • Port 80 (TCP)
  • Port 500 (UDP)
  • UDP Port 3544 (UDP)
  • UDP Port 4500 (UDP)

***Click Apply at the bottom of the screen (Don't forget this bit or it won't save the rules).***

Re: Port forward on XboxOne (Strict NAT)?

Hi again,

I have noticed since I have done this port forwarding each morning when I wake up my wireless isn't operating properly. Something happens overnight and my superhub seems to stop sending out a wireless signal or something along those lines.

The lights on the superhub all stay on (normally one or two may flash) and I have to turn the superhub off for 10 seconds or so, when I turn it back on everything works again for around a day.

Can anyone advise please?

On the virgin service status in my area I am also getting this...

You may be experiencing issues when trying to access Virgin Media Webmail and Authentication Errors on IMAP

Our engineer is working to fix the problem.

 Reference no: F004027822

and...

You may see on your email a red banner at top of page saying: "Virgin Media mail is having authentication problems. Try logging in to fix the problem." If you click the "logging in" link it brings up a Google page with error.

Our engineer is working to fix the problem.

So are my issues because I port forwarded although they shouldn't be or because of those service faults?

Thanks for any replies...

Re: Port forward on XboxOne (Strict NAT)?

Hi, Quinn

Sorry to see you are still having problems lets have a look at this for you, I need you to post some info from the modem so we can see if we can find the problem. The Faults you posted & port forwarding would not cause this problem

Step 1 go to - http://192.168.0.1

Step 2 Can you post the downstream & upstream data for me *pictures below if you need help*

Re: Port forward on XboxOne (Strict NAT)?

Hi,Ouinn

Thank you so much for posting that information, I have had a look at it for you and it looks like you had a problem on or around the 14th, As I can see same T3 timeouts's which would suggest an upstream problem. or a downstream problem with the hub not receiving power ramping commands or ranging responses from the CMTS

As I can't see any more following the ones from the 14th and the downstream and upstream are both looking in good shape at the moment. The best thing we can do is wait for one of the forum team to Have a more detailed look at your connection and Hub

It may take a couple of days for one of the forum team to get to this

Re: Port forward on XboxOne (Strict NAT)?

Hi Quinn

Thanks for posting. Looks like you've had some great help from Martin_D. Apologies for the issues you have been experiencing, we will certainly look into this with you. Everything looks healthy when checking your connection and I can't see any further timeouts which is great.

With the wireless problems you are having where you need to reboot the hub is there any difference if you change the wireless channel?
