Ping spikes incredibly high

Recently my ping has been spiking incredibly high when playing games. It usually sits around 30 before jumping to 100+, and recently it has been a constant 100. Is there congestion in the area or something wrong on my end?

I can post anything you need like speedtests etc.

Thanks in advance Smiley Happy

Re: Ping spikes incredibly high

Hi AngieVilliers,

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear you've been getting ping spikes. I've just checked your connection and can see no issues from here. Your power levels, SNR and area contention are perfectly healthy. How are you connected to the hub? Wired or wireless?

Re: Ping spikes incredibly high

Hi AngieVilliers,

Thanks for getting back in touch. I'm sorry to see you have continued to have trouble with your connection.

I have checked your connection and things seem to be ok from this side.

Sometimes small things can upset a wireless signal, even your neighbours moving their TV to another place can affect it.

Try popping the hub into modem only mode and the computer into safe mode. Let us know if this makes a difference as it will help us to rule some things out.

It may also help to see a TBB Graph. (Please be aware link is external and we're not responsible for its contents).

I would also be interested in your network log:

  • 192.168.0.1 in the browser, log in  Username is admin and the password will be changeme, unless you have changed it.
  • Go to Advanced settings.
  • Go to Network Status, copy the results back here.
  • Got to Net work log, pop those results back here too.

Keep me posted.

Emma

Re: Ping spikes incredibly high

If you are gaming You may as well wire up anyway, better ping and stability than you will get on wireless. Better all round really.
