Past week or two my online gaming has been enormously frustrating. Every few minutes it will lag out, and say that the connection will make the game unplayable (e.g. when playing Star Wars Battlefront). Although things freeze for around 15 seconds, it happens repeatedly, and is incredibly poor. My wifi connection to the PS4 is extremely strong, and when I run tests on my broadband the download speed is fine. However, the upload speeds are not consistent, running from up to 3mb/s and sometimes dropping to 94k. This, to me, at least perhaps explains the problem, but I have no idea why. If Virgin are doing traffic management it is hugely detrimental, and doesn't really explain the lack of consistency? Either way it is very frustrating so any advice would be much appreciated.
It would be helpful to know if things are the same with a wired Ethernet connection, just so that wireless interference can be ruled out.
Are you seeing the slow upload speeds all day or only at peak times (typically 4pm-11pm weekdays and weekends)?
If you go to http://192.168.100.1/ to get the VM hub GUI. Don't login but instead click on Router Status which is either a button in the top right of the screen or a text link at the bottom of the screen depending on which hub you have. Click on the Downstream, Upstream and Network Log sections and copy & paste the figures from those screens and post them here, don't worry about the formatting or you can post screen shots if that is easier.
The community can have a look for you and see if anything in the figures looks wrong and advise accordingly. Or you can wait for the VM staff to pick up this thread (can take up to a week) and run checks on your line.
