No good for Xbox gaming

Extremely high ping, spoke to virgin media on facebook and over phone. Woman on phone told me that my high ping is due to my Xbox and to disconnect it and just use my pc and ping will be fine. So basically virgin media told me their service is not suitable for Xbox live gaming!

I told the woman that it can't be the Xbox as nothing was connected only two mobiles and my pc and ping was still 190 and that I can send her the speed test logs from my phone. She said no its your Xbox.

So what gives? Is virgin media no good for Xbox live gaming? Basically told me online and using headset will make it jump up to the high 200ms ping and to disconnect it......I give up

Re: No good for Xbox gaming

You need modem mode and your own router to game on VM.

Read this and you will find some info.

Red (VM SH2 AC Beta tester)
Running on 200Mb VM service with SH2 AC in Modem Mode, with a ASUS RT-N66U router. With this setup I get Fantastic WIRED and WIRELESS Signals in my home. I dont work for VM. But I work in IT, and I know my tech.
My advice is at your own risk.

Re: No good for Xbox gaming

My 360 connects wired, and my Xbox one wirelessly. They told me to unplug them and ping will be fine but they're not even on.

okay set up a BQM

HERE

Run it for say 24 hrs, and post the result.

Dont forget youll need to make sure your super hub is configured to reply to ICMP echo requests...
