No Port Forwarding option in Security Menu for Virgin Media Router

Following Virgin Media instructions to set up port forwarding on my router, but do not have the option for port forwarding.

Only 3 options are:

  • Firewall
  • MAC filtering
  • IP and Port filtering

IP and Port filtering only allows ipv6 addresses to be used and there even if I allow all filtering through on all ports to the ipv6 address of my machine there is not even ping getting through.

Re: No Port Forwarding option in Security Menu for Virgin Media Router

Ireland, by any chance?

VM in Ireland are using CGNAT, which means you're getting put behind a NAT that's running at VM's end. There's no point setting up a port forward on your router because inbound connections won't ever reach your router unless you also set another port forward up on the router inside VM's network, which you can't do.

(Not sure why pings aren't getting though; Windows has its own firewall that -- incorrectly -- blocks pings out of the box, so it might be because of that.)
