Latency spikes, packet loss and Wireless Dropout

Hello,

I'm having two separate issues with my connection.

Firstly, probably once every two days, my wireless drops out from my router and it needs a restart to come back. The only devices I use on wireless are phones, tablets, and my TV.

Secondly, I'm getting lag spikes and packet loss when gaming. I am regularly disconnected from online games regularly, mid day and evenings. I set a BQM running to see what was happening and I can see pack loss and small spikes. The packet loss is the most annoying issue as it disconnects me from games.

I see this issue is common on these forums. The connection to my PC is wired.

I've also checked my firmware on the router and it has been rolled back recently.

Thanks,

Luke

Re: Latency spikes, packet loss and Wireless Dropout

Sorry I don't understand what you're talking about?

That BQM graph is from the evening of the 1st December.

Edit:

Nevermind, I see where you're looking at now. Let me double check, as this is the first time I've ever set one up... so it may just be the time stamp is wrong.

Wow, 10/10 for idiocy on my part. The first image I posted was a sample graph from their front page ...Smiley LOL

Here is mine.. It's much worse.. I'll try edit this into my first post...

Re: Latency spikes, packet loss and Wireless Dropout

Possibly a area or local fault
do the following when your connection is idle:
ping -n 200 94.173.220.1

From this end to 94.173.220.1 there is some tx delays by 100ms +(ICMP timestamp with hrping)

Re: Latency spikes, packet loss and Wireless Dropout

I can give that a go when I get home. Am at work at the moment so thought I'd make a quick forum post.

We have recently had a problem in my area, which an engineer came and resolved quite recently. Maybe the problem has come back.

Re: Latency spikes, packet loss and Wireless Dropout

I've spoken to VM on chat and they said they have seen some power issues. They've booked an engineer in to visit in a few days time.
Fingers crossed!

Re: Latency spikes, packet loss and Wireless Dropout

Hi Lukehogarth

I'm sorry to hear of the packet loss that you are experiencing though it's great to hear that you have an engineer visit booked in to adjust the power levels Smiley Happy If you get a chance let us know how the visit goes.

Hope you have a good weekend.

Ty
