Intermittent internet and closed socket issues

Hi all, I hope you can help.

For a good long while now my internet has been dropping out from 20 sec to 5 mins about 5 times a day. Never used to be an issue for just surfing the net, a minor inconvenience at most. 

But now i'm playing games online a lot more, mainly eve online. The amount of closed sockets is making what should be enjoyable a very frustrating experience. Virgin keep raising the price and the serving gets worse.

Your Downstream power levels are far too low. They should be between -6 to +10

You will need to get an Engineer to fix this. Either wait here for up to 7 days for a Mod to answer, or phone 150.

Many thanks. I had a feeling the power levels were to low. Any idea if the power level would cause the dropouts themselves?

Yes, I would imagine if the signal is insufficient to maintain a lock, then yes, it could cause loss of signal.

I just wanted to report back after giving it a week since the engineer came round. I'm pleased to say that it is running very well and i'm very pleased with the service Virgin have given. Big thank you to the community for helping speed this up and to Nicola for getting the engineer round to me, also a big thanks to the engineer who was very helpful.
